Glenn C. Loury is an economist who has held the Merton P. Stoltz Professorship of the Social Sciences at Brown University since 2005 and is now professor emeritus of economics and of international and public affairs there. At age 33 he became the first Black economist to be granted tenure in Harvard's economics department. His research spans applied microeconomic theory, game theory, industrial organization, natural resource economics, and the economics of race and inequality, and he is a longstanding commentator on racial inequality and social policy in the United States.
