Kimberlé Crenshaw is a pioneering legal scholar, civil rights advocate, and a leading authority in the areas of civil rights, Black feminist legal theory, and race, racism and the law. She is best known for developing the theory of intersectionality, a framework that examines how different forms of discrimination can overlap and compound. As co-founder of the African American Policy Forum and the #SayHerName campaign, Crenshaw has been instrumental in addressing issues of gender and racial equality in legal discourse, policy development, and social movements.
